The Art of Charles Neugent
The Art of Charles Neugent
My paintings are usually made of acrylic paint, and whatever else might be lying around. I affix these various items to wood panels or canvas in an effort to create something semi-permanent in my very temporary life. I sometimes delight in the result and at other times, I despair in my inability to capture my feelings. My work is rarely planned so, I love the sense of excitement when a painting takes me to a place I’ve never seen. I would certainly not recommend my path to anyone else since it took me over forty years to “get ready to paint.” I can’t imagine not painting or how I lived so long without it.
Charles Neugent is completely self-taught and started painting at age 43. Mr.Neugent was born in Birmingham, Alabama. After serving three years in the United States Army in Europe, he worked in the food & beverage industry for the next twenty years. Charles opened several restaurants, though most of his career was spent in country club operations. He now paints full time at his home studio in Birmingham where he lives with his 13 year old son, Ceylor. Mr. Neugent donates to the Alabama Autisim Society and Mitchell’s Place and encourages others to do so.
